Carly Leonard
Physical Therapy Clinical Tech

Carly grew up in Orland Park, Illinois, where athletics quickly became a central part of her life. She began figure skating at the age of two and went on to accumulate over 15 years of competitive experience. Carly competed at the senior level in Freestyle and Moves in the Field (MITF).

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she discovered a new passion for running and joined her community college’s cross-country team. What began as a hobby soon evolved into a significant part of her athletic journey. By 2022, Carly was competing at the Division I level in cross country and track for Northern Illinois University.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from NIU and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology. During her time at the university, Carly also serves as a graduate assistant instructor for exercise physiology. Carly plans to continue her education by attending physical therapy school next year.

Carly’s interest in this career path was sparked years ago, back when she was a patient of Gina Pongetti Angeletti, whose care left a lasting impression. Now, returning to the clinic not as a patient but as an aspiring professional feels like a full-circle moment, bringing her journey back to where it all began. With a deep-rooted love for helping others, Carly finds fulfillment in supporting people through recovery and performance, and is excited to merge her interests in sports, rehabilitation, and sports psychology degree into a meaningful career.
